Is There a Bike Rack?
We hear it all the time: “Is there a bike rack?” Now, when you’re riding somewhere, you’ll be able to find out in the Bike Streets App.
Passport Destinations already include photos of bike racks we get from business owners. With this new feature in the app, you can see exactly where the closest rack is to the place you’re going.
At this point, there are a lot of missing racks. So we built the feature so anyone can add a rack through the app. This info will be available in OpenStreetMap, an open-source mapping project used by thousands of apps, researchers, and map enthusiasts.
When you search for a destination in the app, if there’s a bike rack nearby, we’ll show you the ole “P” parking icon.
You can tap it and zoom in to see exactly where it is relative to the place you’re going.
And if there is a rack there that isn’t listed, you can add it so everyone else will know about it when they go there. Tap the “P” on the map and then place the bike rack pin.
Indicate what kind of rack it is and how many bikes can fit there.
For those of you who love a good scavenger hunt, you can put the app in Wander mode, go on an adventure, and add as many missing bike racks as you like.
Want to help us add lots and lots of racks? Send us an email and you can join the rack-mappin’ team.
